RE: Supply and demmand my ...

I don't get the significnce of comparing us to foreigh countries and their price of fuel. That is like apples nd oranges and the price of gas. :h
More than one of those would fit into the state of Texas at one time - or close to it.

RE: Water Pump Issue that won't go away.... help

If I ever go into a dealer with something like that, I get the service "expert" in tow and demonstrate the problem. That usually gets the deer in the headlight look but then they have to do something besides turn a service order to the comapany for warranty work.
good luck

RE: GEO Method Discussion

I don't understand a smelly holding tank. They are supposed to be designed to not stink, kinda like the septic system at the house.
I have went 30 days without emptying the black tank and nary a smell.
Same with the grey tank.
I don't have a clue. The last RV went 8 years without putting out any odors.:h

RE: Jayco caulk

Check the tube of dicor to meake sure it is the stuff that is compatible with rubber roofs. It should state so right on the tube. If so that is what I have always used to go over the cheap/sloppy caulking areas done at the factory.

RE: Purging brand new propane tank question?

I have always just had them filled and noticed no diference.
There was one post about putting in a little and then opening the valve to empty it. I don't know how long ago it was that you could have a tank filled that would discharge when the valve was opened. Maybe two generations back. I guess you could jury rig something to open the valve in the outlet, but like I mentioned, I am well into social security and have always just had new tanks filled.

RE: would you run retreads?

I hope the original poster has noticed what totally out in left field advise is sometimes given on this board.
Like giving an emphatic NO when the no is not based on anything but urban legend.
Total lack of knowledge on how tires are constructed. The tread is vulcanized/or whatever to the carcass on new tire manufacturing.
The treads laying on the highway are from truck retreads - whaaaaaaaaaat!
If you don't have them real deep pockets, you should not be RVing.
Just think that if someone took all the El Torro popo off this site how informative and consise it would be.
Whoah, then I would not have posted this either :W
I am really getting cranked up now, I better settle down and enjoy life. :S
However, I did think the thread was interesting because of some real world comments given on experience gained.

RE: King Pin Lubrication?

I am old fashioned I guess.
I believer that all the latching mechanism needs some type of lube on it. I won't get into exactly what, since everyone has an opinion.
Then I put some grease on the fifth wheel plate, not a truckload just some to keep the metal fram galling.
If it comes to hanging my fat belly on the greasy part when I heft the hitch around, I just throw one of my fvorite shop rags over the plate - like a worn out T Shirt.
Just me

RE: Charging 5th Wheel Batteries

give donno's comments some thought. That converter will not divert it's full amperage to battery charging. I don't know the answer but always got better results on the old camper with hooking a battery charger to the batts.
I don't know what a msarine charger is, I used to charge my boat batt with the same charger i have now for all purpose.

RE: How Fast to Drive?

As stated before, the equipment has got to be a factor. I can tow at 55 on perfectly flat or down hill. My powerstoke is running on the bottom of the power curve at that speed and dogs along and rattles like crazy. The closer you get to 2000 rpm the easier it pulls. I will stick with the 3.73 gears because I think it is best all around for me that is.
So work with it a little. On my ole gasser I could run 55 since that was comfortable speed with the overdrive locked out and the motor singing.

I wuldn't unless here seems to be a performance problem.
I ran my last one for eight years without even loking at it. I did have to clean the inside filter a lot though.

RE: Help! 12 V water pump won't turn on!

I would have checked for juice at the pump like tundra indicated as the first step, I know tundra isn't but this lazy old man would start out the easy way.

so what happened to the motor - they usually don't just say you gotta replace me out of the clear blue :h If I loved the vehicle, I would drop a crate motor in. or a short block something or other.

RE: RDS Fuel Tanks

I got one that works flawlessly also. It is amazing that you will get posts that don't have an idea of how the system works.
When i have senior moments and leave mine on for dasys it will never overflow.
The instructions come with the gravity kit from RDS.
BTW, gravity is something it seems no one has figured out how to charge me for. :h
That shut off valve also functins as the anti roll over valve.

RE: The Phantom Grease Fitting

I been doing it for years with the needle adapter that Ben posted.
Also i put the needle adapter on the end of a metql tube on the gun so I casn keep the needle plugged in while I pump. Then I just take off the whole deal from the gun and put the flex hose back on.
That puppy will also work on those zerks that it is a devil to get the regular gun fitting onto. Just plug the needle intothe little ball on the zerk

RE: Maximum ST tire speeds

MegsaDodge
You are right about the delamination. I been thru a bunch of marathns. I am currently running one axel with Titan E range 15 inch tires. I don't know what I wil finally settle on as my choice but it won't be the marathons.:h
and yes, sometines you can catch me at 70 mph heading into a big hill or long grade. Only down hill though.

RE: Keystone shower low water pressure

I went thru that with my Keystone Laredo. I think the restrictor was between the end of the hose and the head as Chuck posted. I just kept enlasrging the holes in the restrictor until I got the flow I wanted. That way I could just turn the hot all the way on and add the cold.
If not there look where it screws into the faucet.
